Holiday Fatalities, DUI Arrests Way Down in LA County
There were no traffic fatalities in the first 36 hours of the holiday weekend in LA County.

There were no traffic-related fatalities on Los Angeles County highways during the first 36 hours of this year’s Memorial Day holiday weekend, the California Highway Patrol reported today.
The reporting period began at 6:01 p.m. Friday and ended today at 6 a.m.
Statewide, there were nine traffic-related deaths, according to a CHP holiday roundup.

During that same reporting period last year, there was three traffic- related deaths in the CHP jurisdiction in Los Angeles County and 14 statewide.
In Los Angeles County, CHP officers arrested 165 motorists for drunken driving, in comparison to 199 last year. Statewide, there were 746 drunken driver arrests by CHP officers, in comparison to 822 last year.
