The San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus Welcomes Marisa Bradfield!

The Chorus is excited to introduce its new Artistic Director just in time for its Fall Season.

The San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus (SFVYC), known for providing music education and performance experience to Children, ages 3 to 18, welcomes Marisa Bradfield as its new Artistic Director.

Ms. Bradfield is a Los Angeles native who has been an active member of the choral community for the past twenty years. As part of the Chorus, which is in the midst of celebrating its 30th Anniversary, she will begin working with the organization’s young choristers at the start of its recently announced Fall semester, which kicks off on Sunday, September 11, 2022, and continues to December 18, 2022.

We look forward to Marisa bringing her dedication and talent, plus her wealth of experience in choral music to the Chorus. With such a rich background that has allowed her to sing and perform for radio, television, feature films, and with some of the most prestigious vocal ensembles in the United States, our young singers are guaranteed to benefit from all she has to offer.” says SFVYC Board Chair Joy Shahan.

Having begun in 1992, the Chorus offers opportunities for singers to express themselves in one of two choirs. The Concert Choir welcomes ages 8 to 18, while the Kinder Choir offers music, song, and fun to ages 3 to 7 who have an interest in singing. All choirs meet on Sunday afternoons in the West Hills area with the Concert Choir regularly rehearsing from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, the Kinder Choir from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, and an Advanced Ensemble from 4:15pm to 5:30pm. Throughout the season, young choristers will learn to sight read music, cultivate vocal skills, take part in scheduled performances, and join in several other fun Chorus activities. Tuition for the Fall semester is $175 for the Concert Choir, while the Kinder Choir is just $100. In addition, there’s a special price break for siblings, and financial aid is available for those who qualify.

“I am excited to begin my first season with the Chorus and look forward to engaging in the many performances and opportunities that will expand and support the organization and its singers,” says Marisa Bradfield, SFVYC Artistic Director.
