Aurora Mother Of Four Deported

An Aurora mother of four who has lived in the United States for more than 15 years was deported last week after being held by immigration authorities for five days. Maria de Jesus Jimenez-Sanchez was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Centennial earlier this month.

Jimenez-Sanchez, whose real name is Karen Araujo-Jimenez, has four children, one of whom is a developmentally-disabled 15-year-old daughter.

She had first entered the country in October 1999 as an undocumented immigrant and sent back to Mexico the same day.
In May 2001, she was caught again trying to get into the country and, again, deported the same day.

In December 2012, she was held by ICE for six months after being pilled over and cited for driving without a license. Once she got out, she was granted a one-year stay on a deportation order.
In March of this year, she was denied another stay.
Her lawyer told reporters that she had been living up to the agreement that led to her being granted stays, that she had been living in Aurora for 15 years without incident.
ICE says that she was a repeat violator.
