Man's Body Found Near Ski Slopes Closes Down Vail Trails UPDATE
A woman saw the body from a ski lift. Vail police were unable to identify a man's a body found in Gore Creek in Lionshead.

VAIL, CO -- Vail police temporarily closed ski access points in the Lionshead area Tuesday after an unidentified man's body was found in Gore Creek, the police dept. announced on Twitter this morning. Police made the announcement around 10:50 a.m.
A woman reportedly spotted the body in Gore Creek from a ski lift and called police around 9:03 a.m. a statement from Vail Police said.
The man appeared to be between 45-55 years old. He was not able to be identified on site, and the body was taken by Vail PD and fire dept. personnel to the Eagle County Coroner’s office for further investigation.

According to police, the victim "was wearing a black and dark gray zip-up fleece over a bright blue zip-up vest, black pants and brown leather lace-up boots. A backpack was found in the creek nearby, but did not contain any identifying information. There was a copy of a local newspaper in the backpack dated Jan. 15, along with a small set of car keys and a first aid kit."
