Boulder Train Derailment Forces Evacuations
Original concerns that there was hazardous material were unfounded.

A train derailment in Boulder Tuesday afternoon sparked evacuations because of concerns over the possibility of hazardous materials. It turned out that the train was carrying plastic beads.
it happened just after 3 p.m. just north of Arapahoe Avenue between 55th and 63rd Streets.
The hazardous materials crew from the Boulder Police Department responded but within about 40 they determined they were not needed. (For more information on this and other local stories, subscribe to your local Patch for breaking news alerts.)

Before that happened, all businesses within 100 yards of the derailment - including Fisher Honda and the Boulder Jewish Community Center - had been evacuated.
The evacuation order was listed just before 5 p.m..
