Cary Kennedy, Jared Polis Top Gov Ticket At State Dem Assembly
Cary Kennedy won the top spot for the Democrat Governor primary at the Colorado Democrats' State Assembly in Broomfield.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- Cary Kennedy and Jared Polis will both appear on the Democrat's primary ballot for the governors race after both candidates cleared the 30 percent threshold of delegate votes at the Democratic Party's state assembly in Broomfield Saturday.
Former state treasurer Kennedy won 61.55 percent of the delegate votes, while Congressman Polis, of Boulder, won 32.85 percent, which means both candidates will appear on the June 26 primary ballot. Lt. Governor Donna Lynne and former legislator Michael Johnston will find out soon whether their petition signatures will be certified by the Secretary of State to allow her to petition onto the primary ballot. Polis also turned in 33,000 signatures to get on the primary ballot. In third place was Erik Underwood, who did not make the 30 percent threshold.
In the crowded Democrat field for Attorney General, JeffCo District Attorney Phil Weiser received 52.87 percent of delegate votes cast, winning top line on June’s primary ballot. He earned over 16 percent more than the next AG candidate, Colorado Representative Joe Salazar, who received 36.58 percent of votes cast. Amy Padden received 10.54 percent. Padden is also attempting to get on the ballot through the petition process.

In the Secretary of State race, Jena Griswold won 98.44 percent of the vote.
Two candidates made the cut for the state treasurer race: Rep. Dave Young of Greeley won the most delegate votes with 52.16 percent, while Bernard Douthit gained 31.5 percent. Charles Scheme did not make the 30 percent threshold, earning 16.34 percent of the vote.
