Castle Rock Gun Store Burglars "Tow" The Line

Thieves use tow line to bust open the door of a gun shop.

Castle Rock Police say they are looking for a group of burglars who found a new "line" of work - a tow line. Police say the two used a tow line attached to a stolen car to bust open the gate and front of a gun shop Tuesday morning.

The alarm went off at DCF Guns at 1155 Park Street just before 2 on Tuesday morning.

When the officers got there they found broken glass and a stolen 1998 Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot. The Jeep, with out of state plates, had been stolen in Aurora.

Reviewing security recordings police were able to figure out that four burglars used the jeep to remove the front door and gate of the store.

They then smashed display cases and stole an undetermined number of handguns and semi-automatic sporting rifles.

All the suspects were wearing masks or had clothing covering their spaces.

Police say that there have been similar crimes in Denver and Colorado Springs.

And just last week, DCF had been the victim of a similar burglary attempt. The would-be crooks used a stolen jeep to ram the entrance but it got stuck and they fled.
