Colorado-Based QVC Buys Home Shopping Network
The deal - QVC had already owned 38 percent of its rival - is meant to give the combined company a better chance of battling Amazon.
Facing increased challenges from online giant Amazon, Englewood, Colorado-based QVC group is buying the rest of rival Home Shopping Network. QVC, which already owns 38 percent of HSN, is buying the rest of the company in a stock deal worth about $2.6 billion.
Both companies have seen sales declining as Amazon has grown.
"The addition of HSN will enhance QVC's position as the leading global video eCommerce retailer, said Greg Maffei, the president and CEO of Liberty Interactive, which owns QVC.
