Colorado Church Pot Use Okay As International Church Of Cannabis Opens
It's 4/20, the perfect day to open a church dedicated to "the sacred plant."

It's April 20, or 4/20, and the city of Denver has a new church. The International Church of Cannabis opened on Thursday, welcoming people looking "to create the best version of themselves by way of the sacred plant."

Located in the former Calvary Apostolic Church at Logan Street and Dakota Avenue, the church - which says it home to the practice of "Elevationism" - says that since they "claim no divine authority, nor authoritarian structure" people of all religious and cultural backgrounds are welcome.

The church escaped a last minute attempt to prevent it from opening when Colorado's house rejected an amendment that would have prevented pot use in churches.
The proposal would have been attached to a bill regulating the operation of pot clubs in the state but was blocked by a procedural move before a vote could be held.
