Colorado DMV Reopening More Locations By Appointment Only
At all locations, DMV officials said customers will be required to wear face masks and will be screened with a laser thermometer for fevers.
LAKEWOOD, CO—Starting Wednesday, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles will begin the second phase of its reopening plan by offering driver license services to Coloradans at ten more state driver license offices.
According to DMV officials, they will only be able to serve customers with appointments and will not be able to accommodate walk-in customers. This is so the DMV may serve customers more efficiently by prioritizing appointments for services that can only be performed in-office. Offices opening on May 6 include:
- Boulder - 2850 Iris Ave., Suite F
- Canon City - 127 Justice Center Rd., Suite K
- Durango - 329-A S. Camino Del Rio
- Fort Collins - 3030 S. College Ave., #100
- Grand Junction - 222 S. 6th St., Suite 111
- Greeley - 2320 Reservoir Rd.
- Lakewood - 1881 Pierce St.
- Lamar - 3505 Main St.
- Littleton - 311 E. County Line Rd.
- Salida - 448 E. 1st St.
To schedule an appointment, customers can call 303-205-5613 opt. 4 or 303-205-2335 for CO-RCSA services.

During this time, DMV officials said they will schedule customers who are unable to use online services and must visit an office. These services include:
- Initial issuance of driver licenses, identification cards and instruction permits
- Some driver license or identification card renewal customers who are ineligible to renew online
- Instruction permit holders who need to take the written test (please note that the DMV will not be conducting drive tests at this time. Customers needing drive tests should reach out to a driving school for testing).
- Instruction permit holders who are ready to upgrade to a driver license
- Coloradans needing CO-RCSA services (please call 303-205-2335 for CO-RCSA services)
- Coloradans seeking a state-issued driver license or ID card for the first time, including those transferring a credential from another state or country (first-time applicants are encouraged to start the process on myDMV.Colorado.gov to shorten the duration of the visit.
At all locations, DMV officials said customers will be required to wear face masks and will be screened with a laser thermometer for fevers, and must answer a COVID-19 questionnaire. Customers who have fevers or exhibit COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed into state offices, they stressed.

They are also urging customers to avoid bringing guests because they will not be allowed into any driver license office while social distancing is being utilized. If a guest is essential such as a caregiver or translator, DMV officials said customers must specify that a guest is needed when making an appointment.
As of Monday, May 4, the DMV began serving commercial driver license (CDL) customers in select locations by appointment only as part of the its first phase of reopening. For additional details, click here.
