Expect More Overhead Jet Noise As National Guard Pilots Practice

From the Colorado National Guard: The 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard, based at Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, Colorado, is preparing for a combat deployment this spring.

The community can expect an increase in F-16 fighter aircraft night flying across the state for at least the next few weeks.

"As a Wing, we will be fully prepared to deploy in support of our nation's defense in just a few months," said U.S. Air Force Col. Brian Turner, 140th Wing commander. "Stringent night flying requirements have us conducting extra training flights at night."

Jet noise may be heard as late as 11 p.m., while the unit conducts training missions.

"Our community has always been tremendously supportive and we greatly appreciate their patience and understanding while we work hard in support of our national security," Turner said. "We're making every effort to remain good neighbors while we train our team. We'll
need to generate jet noise later than normal, but we must provide this training before sending our Airmen into harm's way."
