Gov. Polis' Husband Marlon Reis Hospitalized With Coronavirus

Colorado's first gentleman has been taken to a hospital "as a precaution," the governor's office confirmed.

COLORADO — Colorado's first gentleman has been hospitalized after he tested positive for the coronavirus, the governor's office confirmed Sunday.

Over the weekend, Marlon Reis had a "worsening cough and shortness of breath," Gov. Jared Polis' office said in a news release.

"As a precaution, the First Gentleman has been transported to the hospital for review and treatment."

Reis was mostly asymptomatic until eight days after testing positive, the office said.

As of Sunday, Polis was not experiencing any additional symptoms, officials said. The governor was able to drive Reis to the hospital.

Polis announced Nov. 28 that he and his husband tested positive for the coronavirus and that they were isolating in their home.

"No person or family is immune to this virus. I urge every Coloradan to practice caution, limit public interactions, wear a mask in public, stay 6 feet from others, and wash your hands regularly," the governor said in a statement when he first announced their positive tests.

The couple is being closely monitored, the governor's office said.
