History Colorado’s Library to Extend Hours and Update Name

Hart Research Library adds resources to study Colorado History.

From History Colorado: History Colorado’s library is now the Hart Research Library and is open four additional hours per week. Following the results of a Library Task Force Report, these changes will be implemented February 7, 2018.

The Library Task Force was developed to review library operations and make recommendations for future goals and potential service enhancements. The committee included former History Colorado President, Georgi Contiguglia, and representatives of the Denver Public Library, Hart Research Library patrons, educators, special collection librarians, and History Colorado staff.

The Task Force met monthly from January to May 2017 and reviewed current library procedures and the use of spaces, held discussions, and brainstormed around the current challenges and opportunities for improving the patron experience.

Initial results have led to a change in library name and expanded access. The new name is more succinct and conveys the nature of the library. The extended hours are in response to a survey that revealed that patrons favor longer research days over additional days for access.

The Hart Research Library is open to the public and provides access to an unparalleled collection of archives, artifacts, and photographs that document Colorado’s history. The new open schedule will be:Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-3pm.
