We traveled to Evans, CO (outside Greeley) seeking authentic old-school Russian-German delicacies at Schwartz's Krautburgers.
Evans, CO -- Krautburgers! We searched for the Colorado old-school German-Russian delicacy known as the Krautburger (also known as Cabbage Pockets, Bierocks, Kraut runza, Bierochen and German Burgers). We found them at Schwartz's Krautburger Kitchen in Evans, Colorado. What's a Krauburger? They're delicious hot pockets filled with spiced ground beef, onions and cabbage.
We spoke to Jean at Schwartz's, who told us about her own childhood and the "Bierochen" baked by her mother and grandmother on the cattle farm.
