"We never stopped looking," said Brian Kerrigan, operations manager at Lake Pueblo.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office sent out a call for help to other agencies and a rescue team from Summit County answered, arriving with a submersible sidescan sonar. That team located a boat and body in 120 feet of water on Monday.
On Tuesday, rescue divers from the Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived to recover the body. Given the depth of the water, it took them several hours.
"We found the body approximately 300 feet west of the dam," Kerrigan said. "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Montoya and hope this provides them some closure as they deal with their grief.
“Our staff worked tirelessly to bring resolution to this case."
