BROOMFIELD, CO — The FBI's Denver branch is investigating a former Westminster police officer who pleaded guilty last year to unlawful sexual contact and official misconduct, The Denver Post reported.

Curtis Lee Arganbright, 41, was sentenced last year to 90 days in prison followed by four-years probation after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while he was on duty.

The Denver Post obtained federal court records from a researcher at George Washington University that show the FBI is investigating whether Arganbright violated a federal civil rights statute. An FBI agent said there is "probable cause" that Arganbright "willfully deprived [the] victim on her constitutional right to bodily integrity," The Denver Post reported.

On Aug. 24, 2017, Arganbright was on assignment to bring home a woman who had been released from St. Anthony North Health Campus in Westminster. He was accused of stopping in Broomfield around 1:30 am. in a deserted area near West 144th Avenue and Zuni Street and then allegedly forcing the woman to perform sexual acts.

The victim in the case was "physically unable to be present for the sentencing hearing but her mother told the judge that her daughter was brutally raped and suffers extreme PTSD because of Arganbright's actions," the District Attorney's office said.
