Olde Town Tree Lighting and Lagniappe

An evening of holiday carols, pictures with Santa and the annual lighting of the tree in Olde Town Square by the Mayor.
The Arvada Chorale will begin performing at 5:30 p.m. and Santa will be waiting to meet young children and listen to their Holiday wishes in the Library. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00pm. Additionally, The Phipps Team will be in Olde Town Square providing FREE Hot Chocolate, while Majestic View Nature Center/Jeffco Open Space will be on hand with their telescope – giving visitors a chance to take in the night sky.
Local merchants will celebrate Lagniappe. If you pronounce it "lawn-yap," you either grew up in Arvada or spent some time in New Orleans. The meaning of lagniappe in the American South is a "little extra something" thrown in by a merchant – such as that 13th donut, when you really only ordered a dozen.
But in Arvada, the word has taken on a whole new meaning in Olde Town where it represents the official start of the holiday season.
Local businesses stay open late and thank their loyal customers with special Lagniappe swag.
Kline’s Beer Hall will be hosting a Chili Cook-Off to benefit Arvada Fire (6-8 p.m.), and for those who enjoy eggnog and cider a self-guided tour + competition awaits at participating merchants throughout the district.
Saturdays with Santa and the Olde Town Holiday Market

Here is your free and FUN opportunity to see the big man in RED! Santa will be in the Olde Town Arvada Square (57th and Olde Wadsworth Blvd) from noon – 3 p.m. on Dec. 1, 8 and 15. Each child that visits with Santa will receive a FREE sugar cookie from the famous Rheinlander Bakery! And, Kathryn Tighe, Real Estate Agent, Colorado Home Realty will be onsite with free hot cocoa!
There will be live entertainment each week:
Dec. 1: Holiday Low Brass
Dec. 8: Arvada Chorale
Dec. 15: bFlatirons
Olde Town Holiday Market, also in the Square, runs 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will also be taking place on Dec. 22- perfect for last minute gifts!
