Aspen to conduct overnight maintenance on S-curves (aspentimes.com) — Overnight concrete maintenance on Aspen's S-curves will narrow traffic to a single alternating lane and slow bus service from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Oct. 5-8. If you drive or ride transit in and out of town at night, plan for delays, follow flaggers' directions, and give crews extra space while they work.
   

2. Aspen to host open house for Smuggler Bridge replacement (aspentimes.com) — Aspen residents are invited to a public open house on Oct. 7 at City Hall to weigh in on designs for replacing Smuggler Bridge on Power Plant Road, a key emergency and transportation link. City engineers will present preliminary concepts, explain why full replacement is preferred over rehabilitation, and gather feedback on aesthetics, access, construction impacts, and traffic management before work begins in 2027.
   

3. Change in planes, flight paths makes an audible difference f... (aspendailynews.com) — Residents around Aspen Village are hearing planes much closer overhead as newer Embraer 175 jets use updated approach technology into Aspen-Pitkin County Airport. The smoother, ramp-like descent improves safety but concentrates aircraft lower over neighborhoods, creating noticeably louder, more frequent noise that locals and county candidates say needs attention.
   

4. Aspen Filmfest screens Sundance award winner (aspentimes.com) — Aspen film lovers can catch Sundance double-award-winner "Josephine" at the Aspen Isis Theatre on Oct. 2 during Aspen Filmfest, with producer David Kaplan on hand for a post-screening Q&A. The film, inspired by a childhood trauma witnessed in San Francisco, explores how parents support a young girl after she sees a sexual assault, and the article also highlights local 24/7 crisis support available in Aspen.
   

5. LCD Soundsystem Returning For Annual NYC Residency (spinmagazine.com) — LCD Soundsystem will wrap its big New York fall residency with a three-night run at Belly Up in Aspen on Dec. 30-31 and Jan. 1, giving locals a rare chance to see the band up close. The shows follow a milestone 100th residency concert in Brooklyn and continue the group's tradition of extended, celebratory year-end performances.
