Aurora schools locked in SECURE status after stolen car chaos (kdvr.com) — Two southeast Aurora schools, Cherokee Trail High and Fox Ridge Middle, spent hours in SECURE status after police say a 17-year-old in a stolen car sped through campus parking lots during morning drop-off and then fled. Students described fear and confusion as classrooms stayed locked and officers searched outside; as of Tuesday evening, the teen had not been found.

Bill proposes changes to information released on officer-involved incidents (kdvr.com) — Aurora’s police chief is raising alarms about a statewide bill that would change how and when body camera footage and other details are released after deadly police force incidents. Lawmakers say it’s meant to rebuild trust, while Chief Todd Chamberlain fears it will limit law enforcement’s voice and fuel misinformation. A final House vote is expected Wednesday.

Aurora mayor outlines his priorities at this year's State of the City address (denver7.com) — Aurora residents just heard Mayor Mike Coffman lay out 2026 priorities on homelessness, public safety, and major infrastructure fixes like the aging Peoria Street bridge. He also highlighted new efforts on East Colfax, including a Downtown Development Authority, rental licensing, youth programs, and support for immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs, while neighbors voiced concerns about safety and rising rents.

Girls Golf: Thirteen Aurora area golfers earn spots in 5A state tournament (sentinelcolorado.com) — Aurora-area golf fans can cheer on 13 local girls who qualified for the 5A state tournament, including full teams from Cherokee Trail, Grandview, and Regis Jesuit plus a Smoky Hill freshman. The May 18–19 event in Thornton follows a new rankings-based qualifying system that also left standout Vista PEAK golfer Sophia Capua just short of eligibility this season.
