• Dinkle Lake will remain empty this summer (aspendailynews.com) — If you’re heading up toward Dinkle Lake this summer, expect to find the reservoir empty while dam repairs address long-standing seepage issues. The day-use area and Thomas Lakes Road will stay open, but visitors should plan for construction traffic and restricted access near the dam. Basalt’s Big 4 Ranch and Turnabout Ranch are overseeing the repair work with the Forest Service.
   

• Glenwood Springs Elementary art teacher retires after 25 years (postindependent.com) — A longtime Roaring Fork Valley art teacher who began her career at Basalt Elementary in 1996 is retiring after 25 years in local classrooms. She reflects on teaching thousands of valley kids, especially at Glenwood Springs Elementary, and looks ahead to focusing on her own art in Marble while staying active outdoors. Her biggest point of pride is helping children build confidence in their creativity.
