Boulder Community Health Implements New Health Records System
Patients will have access to a new patient portal and advanced electronic health records.
BOULDER, CO — Boulder Community Health has adopted new technology that aims to improve medical care and patient records at its network of physician clinics and patient care facilities. The Epic Electronic Health Record, which began Tuesday, is widely considered the most highly-rated and comprehensive EHR in the country, health officials said.
“BCH’s vision is to create and care for the healthiest community in the nation. Epic’s sophisticated and integrated EHR offers our physicians, nurses and other clinicians a state-of-the-art system for exchanging information and coordinating care,” said Dr. Robert Vissers, BCH President and CEO, in a statement.
The new system is an electronic version of a patient’s medical history that is maintained by their doctors and hospitals. It includes medications, vital signs, past medical history, immunizations, and laboratory and imaging reports.

The top 20 hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals rankings for 2018-19 all use Epic.
The new system also offers patients a portal, MyBCH, that gives 24/7 access to their medical information.
“Whether a patient is seen by a physician in one of our medical clinics or has a test at Foothills Hospital, their test results and other health information can be accessed in one secure, convenient and user-friendly location that a patient can access from their home computer, tablet or a smartphone,” Michael Jefferies, BCH Vice President and Chief Information Officer, said in a statement.
MyBCH can also provide caregivers and family members access to view a loved one’s medical records and manage their care.
