Boulder FlatIron Wildfire Was Likely Caused By Humans: County

Investigators are seeking information about the wildfire that burned three acres in Gregory Canyon Wednesday.

BOULDER, CO -- Wednesday's Gregory Canyon wildfire was likely human-caused, Boulder Fire and Rescue investigators said. The blaze, first reported about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, burned more than three acres in Gregory Canyon on Open Space land near the First Flatiron rock formation in Boulder. Firefighters worked overnight and finally got the fire contained by 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators were able to determine the origin of the fire was just below Crown Rock, on the eastern slope, near the 2,000 block of Flagstaff Road, according to a statement released Thursday. Investigators eliminated natural ignition sources such as lightning strikes, downed electrical lines etc. They concluded the fire was human-caused.
