CU Boulder ID's Woman Who Made Racist Comments In Video

Rebekah Krajacic was caught in a video using the N-word, according to authorities. She is not affiliated with the university.

BOULDER, CO — University of Colorado Boulder police have identified a woman who was caught in a video calling a black student the N-word. The woman also accused the student and others of stalking her.

The woman was identified as Rebekah Krajacic, 33. Campus police said she is not a student or affiliated with the university in any way. The police used community tips and a body-worn camera from prior interactions with her to find out who she was.

The video, which was taken in the university's engineering center, was widely circulated over social media, and caused many students and activist groups to demand action.

In a letter to the university community Monday, CU Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said the woman used "bigoted" and "racist" language that won't be tolerated.

"This incident reminds us of who we are as a campus community and the need for us to be vigilant in defending our values — and each other — on a daily basis," DiStefano said in his letter. "We are committed to an increasingly inclusive campus culture built upon the values of our Colorado Creed, and incidents like yesterday's reinforce the difficult work we have yet to do."

DiStefano said racism has "no place to hide" on CU Boulder's campus.

It's unclear whether Krajacic will face criminal charges for her comments.
