Lawmaker Gun At DIA: Charges Dropped Against Rep. Lori Saine
The Boulder DA's office dropped charges because they said Saine "forgot" she had a loaded 9mm semi-auto handgun in her bag.

BOULDER, CO -- Charges were dropped against Colorado State Rep. Lori Saine (R-Firestone) when Boulder Co. prosecutors said they would not be bringing a criminal case against her for bringing a loaded gun into Denver International Airport on Dec. 5.
Saine spent the night in the Denver jail after being arrested at DIA.
“The evidence in this case indicates that Lori Saine forgot the firearm was in her purse,” the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “Based on the evidence presented, it is the District Attorney’s position that no criminal case against Ms. Saine can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and thus pursuant to the ethical standards guiding prosecutors in Colorado, no charges will be filed in this case.”

“When Denver PD officers, who were not aware that Ms. Saine was a public official, contacted Ms. Saine, she indicated that she ‘totally forgot’ about the gun,” the statement said. “After being mirandized, Denver police attempted to further interview Ms. Saine, who refused and instead requested an attorney, as is her right.”
The statement continued: “At that point Ms. Saine was taken into custody for violation of C.R.S. 18-9-118, possession of a loaded firearm in a facility of public transportation. After obtaining an attorney, Ms. Saine submitted to an interview. During the interview she described the circumstances surrounding the incident.”Denver District Attorney Beth McCann recused herself from taking on the case because McCann and Saine had served together in the General Assembly. McCann asked the Boulder Co. DA to take the case.
