Sword Incident Near Pearl Street Mall: 2 Arrested

Boulder police arrested a man and woman who were allegedly chasing an acquaintance with a sword, on a bike. A victim was cut on the hand.

BOULDER, CO -- A man and woman allegedly chasing an acquaintance around the Pearl Street Mall with a sword were arrested yesterday, Boulder Police said. Cody Scott Parker, 26 was charged with first-degree assault and Aneta Urban, 38, was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

At 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call of a suspicious man with a sword in his backpack at 14th & Walnut Streets. Another call came shortly thereafter that a man was chasing someone with a sword near Wells Fargo at 1242 Pearl Street. At 14th and Canyon, police found a victim who had suffered a serious hand injury after a confrontation. Parker, who was known to the victim, left the area on a bicycle.

CU Boulder sent out a campus alert to students to avoid the area near Varsity Lake.

This is the second sword incident in 2018 for Boulder police. On Jan. 26, police arrested a 35-year old man allegedly lurking near the Millennium Hotel with a large sword, several knives and pellet gun.
