Teacher Walkout: Boulder Valley Schools Schedule April 27
More than 300 BVSD teachers have asked for time off to attend the rallies sponsored by the Colorado Education Assn.

BOULDER, CO -- The Boulder Valley School District will accommodate the teachers who are participating in rallies this week to lobby Colorado lawmakers to devote more money for public school funding. About 10,000 teachers are expected to participate in the Colorado Education Association-sponsored walkouts and "grade ins" at the state Capitol.
Boulder Valley schools will be closed Friday, April 27.
"[W]ith more than 300 BVSD educators planning to be out on Friday, we will simply not be able to provide a safe and effective learning environment for all of our students," Superintendent Cindy Stevenson wrote on the district's Facebook page. "At this time, we expect all scheduled high school athletic practices and competitions to take place on Friday, April 27, as scheduled. The child care programs 'SAC and YMCA' after care will run as scheduled. The morning child care programs and kindergarten enrichment will be canceled."
