BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A new Tesla sales, service and delivery center opened this week in Superior, the company announced. The 22,000-square-foot building, at 2 S Marshall Road, opened after more than a year of construction.

The new Tesla dealership was initially expected to open in the spring of 2019, but that was delayed when the company announced it was halting the construction of sales centers to cut costs. The company changed its mind, however, and the Superior center was given the green light.

Some criticized Superior's decision in 2018 to welcome the electric car manufacturing giant as a centerpiece in the downtown area, citing the risks of market volatility. Nonetheless, Tesla signed a 10-year lease at the McCaslin and Marshall location with three, five-year options to renew. Under that agreement, the land is only authorized for electric car dealership occupancy.
