🌱 Colorado Springs Charter Academy Finance Issues + Trail Rider Dies
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Colorado Springs.
Hello again, everybody! It's me, Helen Eckhard, your host of the Colorado Springs Daily. Keep reading for the most important things happening in town these days...
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and breezy. High: 84 Low: 54.
Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:
- The state's Department of Education has ordered a third party to assume fiduciary powers for Colorado Springs Charter Academy. The decision is in response to several financial concerns the department has with the charter school. If the financial concerns are not resolved, the charter school may be forced to close or delay its school year start. (KRDO)
- The County Assessor Steve Schleiker will be conducting a town hall meeting to speak with residents that had homes damaged or lost in the fires that occurred at Skylark and Falcon Estates Mobile Home Parks. The fires happened in May. Residents will have the opportunity to share property details that were not easily identified. The meeting will also be hosted virtually through this link. (FOX21News.com)
- A Colorado Springs mountain biker died on the Palisade Plunge trail in Mesa County. The biker ran out of water while making the 32-mile ride. Three good Samaritans called emergency services for the man but he did not survive despite actions by first responders. It is unclear how much water he brought with him but the trail requires at least two and a half gallons during the summer months. (KKTV)
