1. FBI, Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff's Office launch child exploitation task force (krdo.com) — A new FBI Southern Colorado Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force is being launched with officers co-located at an FBI facility in Colorado Springs, combining CSPD, El Paso County Sheriff's Office, and federal investigators. Fifteen officers will focus on identifying victims, pursuing offenders, and sharing intelligence more quickly, while parents are urged to stay vigilant about their kids' online activity.
   

2. Lt. Governor Primavera Cuts Ribbon to Establish New Air Force ROTC Detachment at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (colorado.gov) — UCCS students in Colorado Springs will soon be able to complete Air Force and Space Force ROTC training locally through a new AFROTC operating location launched under Detachment 105. State and university leaders say the program taps into the city's strong military ecosystem, giving local cadets a direct path to commissions and long-term service careers.
   

3. Taking Flight (citylifestyle.com) — Colorado Springs aviation fans can look forward to the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow at the Colorado Springs Airport on September 19–20, featuring F-35A and F/A-18 demo teams, historic warbirds, and family activities. Proceeds support three local military museums, and tickets with parking options are available only online at pprairshow.org.
   

4. Discovery Canyon soccer tops Doherty, moves to 2-0 behind new coach and William McKiernan's goal frenzy (gazette.com) — Discovery Canyon's boys' soccer team has opened 2-0 after a 4-2 win over Doherty in Colorado Springs, highlighted by sophomore William McKiernan's fifth goal in two games. Under new coach and retired Marine colonel Jose Montalvan, the Thunder are building a stronger team culture and even added a C team thanks to rising participation.
   

5. Fun-filled events across Colorado this weekend August 28 - August 30, 2026 (koaa.com) — Looking for something to do in or near Colorado Springs this weekend? Free family fun is happening at Acacia Park with OlymPeak City Field Day on Saturday and the Colorado Springs Sunday Market on Sunday, plus nearby options like the State Fair in Pueblo and North Pole Santa's Workshop in Cascade.
