Man Shot In Apartment IDed by El Paso Coroner

A man found dead May 1 in east Colorado Springs was identified by the coroner. Three were arrested and charged with 1st-degree murder.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- The El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the man found shot dead in an apartment in east Colorado Springs.

Dionte Harris, 22, was found by police fatally shot in an apartment building in the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard around 9:10 p.m. May 1.

Springs police arrested three people in connection with the homicide investigation. On May 4, Cortez Lee-Read, 23, and Lakela Brasfield, 24, were arrested in Pueblo, Colorado, with the assistance of the Pueblo Police Department and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, CSPD said. On May 5, Austin Boyd, 22, was arrested in Colorado Springs.

All three suspects, Colorado Springs residents, were charged with first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing and all related warrants have been sealed.

This was the 12th homicide in Colorado Springs in 2018, Colorado Springs PD said. At the same time last year, 13 homicides had occurred.
