Contest seeks photos for calendar celebrating Colorado Springs nature (gazette.com) — Local photographers still have time to submit their best shots of Colorado Springs parks, trails, and open spaces for the city's 2027 Discover COS calendar. Entries are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 4, with proceeds from calendar sales supporting tree planting at Snyder Quarry in Black Canyon Open Space.
   

2. New war machines at Fort Carson put post in unique position (kktv.com) — Fort Carson in Colorado Springs is converting its 3rd Brigade from tanks to Stryker vehicles, making the post the only Army division with three Stryker brigades. Commanders say the shift will boost deployment flexibility and training efficiency without changing troop numbers. Residents can expect the Mountain Post's role in global operations to grow as more than 200 Strykers arrive by late summer.
   

3. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will bring high-energy musical performance to Colorado Springs this week (gazette.com) — Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is bringing its high-energy neo-swing show to Colorado Springs this Friday for a 7:30 p.m. performance at Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers on Bass Pro Drive. Tickets start at $25, with local band The Moldy Figs opening the night.
   

4. Yesterday, another Antonov An-124-100M-100 heavy cargo flight was performed by the Ukrainian airline Antonov Airlines (news-pravda.com) — A recent Antonov heavy cargo jet departed Colorado Springs for Europe carrying U.S. military equipment bound for Ukraine, highlighting the city's role in global defense logistics. The flight may have included engines, transmissions, artillery components, and advanced Patriot and F‑16 systems sourced from major contractors with facilities in Colorado Springs.
