3. UCCS researchers developing model of patient-centered trauma care (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs residents dealing with trauma can now access a growing, research-backed program at UCCS's Milestones Resilience Care clinic, which blends traditional therapy with options like hiking-based sessions, art, massage, and equine work. The center's patient-driven model aims to rebuild confidence and reduce PTSD, anxiety, and insomnia, while ongoing studies could help expand insurance coverage for this kind of care nationwide.
   

4. New affordable housing coming to southeast Colorado Springs (koaa.com) — A new 70-unit affordable apartment complex called Jet Wing Flats is under construction near Jet Wing Drive and Chelton Road in southeast Colorado Springs, with completion expected by spring 2027. Targeting households at 30%–80% of area median income, it will offer one- to three-bedroom units plus support services like budgeting help and homebuyer classes, alongside other affordable options around the city.
   

5. Minot zoo's giraffe has new home (minotdailynews.com) — A young giraffe named Khari has just arrived at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, joining a herd of females to support conservation of endangered reticulated giraffes. His move from North Dakota follows natural giraffe behavior and helps both zoos manage healthy, sustainable giraffe populations while engaging visitors in wildlife protection.
