• Cañon City High School Principal Bill Summers accepts position in Gunnison, Assistant Principal Shane Thornton named new principal (canoncitydailyrecord.com) — Cotopaxi families may be interested that Cañon City High School’s principal, Bill Summers, who helped build the Fremont Multi-district Initiative linking Cañon City, Florence, and Cotopaxi schools, is leaving to become a superintendent in Gunnison. Assistant Principal Shane Thornton will step into the principal role, pledging to continue hands-on, career-focused learning and student support as major campus renovations wrap up next school year.
