• Save The Farm, Save The Future (pbs.org) — Farmers in Delta County are wrestling with drought, rising costs, and a massive new solar project on Garnet Mesa that will test whether agriculture and clean energy can truly coexist. Local ranchers winter their sheep near Delta and increasingly rely on grazing under solar panels to stay afloat. County leaders, meanwhile, are trying to protect irrigated farmland and open space while embracing the economic promise of agrivoltaics.

• Loans available for Colorado businesses harmed by drought (thebusinesstimes.com) — Small businesses and nonprofits in Delta County can now apply for low-interest federal SBA disaster loans to cover economic losses from the ongoing drought that began in late 2025. These loans, up to $2 million, can help with payroll, debts, and other bills, with payments deferred for 12 months. Applications are due by Dec. 7 and can be filed online.

• New Colorado Canyonland Opens Near Grand Junction (k99.com) — New canyonlands in the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area are now open between Whitewater and Delta, giving locals fresh access to dramatic red rock, petroglyphs, and quiet backcountry along the Gunnison River. You can hike, backpack, and explore new routes, but you’ll need to prepare for rugged conditions, scarce water, no cell service, and flash-flood and heat risks. Plan carefully and tread lightly if you go.
