• Colorado ethics panel finds probable cause in complaint against Democrat caucus leader (denvergazette.com) — Delta residents may want to follow this case closely, as local Rep. Matt Soper, R-Delta, sits on the House Ethics Committee that just found probable cause an Aurora Democrat mishandled caucus funds. The bipartisan panel cited poor record-keeping and questionable reimbursements but stressed there was likely no malicious intent. The accused lawmaker can now seek a formal hearing before any final decision. 
• Gov. Polis talks Opportunity Zones 2.0 at CMU (westernslopenow.com) — Delta is specifically named as one of the Western Slope communities targeted for new investment incentives under Colorado’s Opportunity Zones 2.0 program, which Gov. Jared Polis outlined in Grand Junction. The initiative will select a quarter of eligible census tracts statewide for powerful capital-gains tax breaks, potentially steering significant private money toward projects in Delta, Mesa County, and Montrose.
