3rd Colorado Avalanche Player Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A third Colorado Avalanche player is in isolation after he tested positive for the new coronavirus, the team confirmed Tuesday.

The Colorado Avalanche team was notified late Tuesday morning that a third player tested positive for the new coronavirus, the team said. The player is in self-isolation, officials said.

The patient "has not had any close contact with any other Avalanche players or staff members," according to a statement from the National Hockey League.

The team was notified of the first case March 26. That player has recovered, and he's "back to normal," the team said.

Then a second positive case on the team was confirmed March 28. In a statement posted the same day, the team said it was taking extra precautions.

"All other Avalanche players, staff and others who might have had close contact with the player have been informed and remain isolated as per prior League direction and are monitoring their health and will be in touch with Club medical staff as necessary," the March 28 statement read.

No further details about the cases were released.
