Coronavirus Update In Denver: Latest Cases, Deaths

Here's a look at the rate of Denver cases compared to other counties.

DENVER — As of Thursday afternoon, 643 cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed in the City and County of Denver. Compared to other counties in Colorado, Denver had the highest number of cases, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

There have been 11 deaths in Denver since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed.

The state's rate ranking, which assesses the number of cases per 100,000 people, was not available Thursday afternoon. This was the rate ranking posted Wednesday:

According to government data posted Thursday afternoon, there were 3,728 cases of the new coronavirus in Colorado among 20,411 people who have been tested. There were 710 people hospitalized, and 97 deaths were confirmed.

In a news conference Wednesday, Polis called COVID-19 "the most serious global pandemic since the great influenza in 1918."

"The coronavirus is extremely contagious, that's why it's spreading like wildfire," he said.
