The 61-year-old RNL is being acquired by Stantec, combining its five offices and 134 employees with the global giant.

The Denver-based RNL Design architecture firm has agreed to be acquired by Canadian-based design giant Stantec. RNL will combine their five offices and 134 employees into Stantec's 22,000 employees in 400 offices on six continents.
RNL was started in 1956 and has designed numerous projects for different kinds of clients including public transit, civic, federal, energy, software development, telecommunications, and aerospace.
Their projects have included the 41-story residential tower, Spire, in Denver, and master planning services for the Dubai-based Burj Khalifa development.

The two firms have worked together before the years, perhaps most notably on the Research Support Facility (RSF) at the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, Colorado. (For more information on this and other local stories, subscribe to your local Patch for breaking news alerts.)
The 340,000-square-foot was the first Net Zero Energy project of its kind, and RNL provided full design services – from architecture and interior design to site planning and landscape architecture – with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design provided by Stantec.

"Combining talents with Stantec offers a tremendous opportunity for our team members to collaborate on projects within a larger, established global network while helping to elevate their continually growing buildings practice," said H. Joshua Gould, RNL Chairman and chief executive officer.
"We look forward to bringing our multidisciplinary expertise and our strong working relationships to the Stantec team, as well as providing our clients with the power of Stantec's extensive global reach and resources."
The deal is supposed to close by the end of next month.
