Denver Doughnut Shop Homicide: Mom Shoots Dad In Front Of Kid, 4
Brittany Lyons, 25, is charged with murder and child abuse, accused of fatally shooting her 4-year-old's father in front of the child.

DENVER, CO – A woman accused of fatally shooting the father of her child in front of the kid in a Denver doughnut shop parking lot has been charged with murder and child abuse.
Brittany Lyons, 25, formerly of Paris, Tennessee, was charged with second degree murder in the death of Joshua Callison, 27, also a Parisian. She was also charged with child abuse, the Denver District Attorney's office said.
Lyons is accused of shooting Callison around 2:15 a.m. July 23 in the parking lot of LaMar's Donuts and Coffee in the 900 block of West 6th Avenue, in front of the couple's four-year-old child.

An early-morning employee of the doughnut store called 911 to report a woman and a child in front of the shop and a man "down on the ground outside of the store," police said in an arrest affidavit. Police found Lyons holding a 9 mm handgun that had been "stovepiped" or jammed. Calliston was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police interviewed Lyons who waived her Miranda rights, the arrest affidavit said.

Lyons’s first appearance in District Court has not yet been scheduled, the DA's office said.
