Fallen Adams Deputy Heath Gumm Remembered At Unveiling Ceremony

Family members, Adams County elected officials and law enforcement personnel attended a ceremony May 8 to remember Gumm, 31.

BRIGHTON, CO -- Deputy Heath Gumm's name was added to a wall of fallen Adams County personnel May 8 in a somber ceremony with family members and local officials in attendance.

Gumm, 31, was shot and killed during a disturbance call in Thornton on Jan. 24. Dreion Martise Dearing, 22, of Fort Collins, was charged with first-degree murder.

"It's important for us to take the time to be here," said Adams County Sheriff Mike McIntosh, who said the memorial was not to remember Deputy Gumm's death, but to remember how lucky they were to have him as a brother-officer.
