Frontier Airlines to Fly to Charleston, Philadelphia

Frontier Airlines will announce today that they are expanding service to Charleston, SC and Philadelphia

CHARLESTON, SC -- A spokesperson for Denver-based Frontier Airlines is expected to announce new weekly routes between Charleston, SC and Philadelphia in Charleston on Tuesday. Frontier announced in July that it would be adding 21 new locations. Denver's hometown discount airline will serve 82 cities and 1,000 new routes (including connections) by next summer. The airline is preparing for an initial public offering, after filing paperwork in April.

New routes will be available in the following states:

Alberta - Calgary
California - Fresno, Ontario, Palm Springs, San Jose
Idaho - Boise
Kentucky - Louisville
Nevada - Reno
New Mexico - Albuquerque
Oklahoma - Oklahoma City, Tulsa
Pennsylvania - Philadelphia
South Carolina - Charleston
Texas - El Paso
Wyoming - Jackson

Frontier was fined $1.5 million last week by the U.S. Dept. of Transportation after a Dec., 2016 incident where passengers were kept trapped in grounded airplanes for more than three hours during a snowstorm. However, $900,000 of that will be forgiven because of compensation paid to passengers.
