Local Prep Star Receives First D1 Offers
Accelerated Prep sophomore Aliou Dioum continues to make his ascension through the basketball ranks

Accelerated Prep sophomore Aliou Dioum’s college recruitment is beginning to simmer.
The Class of 2026 star was recently extended D1 scholarship offers to play for the University of Missouri, University of Georgia, and Georgia Tech.
“It’s been very rewarding talking to college coaches and receiving offers,” Dioum said. “It proves that all the hard work and time that I’ve invested in basketball is paying off. I’m determined more than ever to push myself and see how far I can go.”

According to Accelerated Prep head coach David Carey, it’s only a matter of time before the simmer of interest and offers turns into a full-blown boil.
“Aliou has the skills and smarts and is going to get quicker and stronger,” Carey said. “He’s the real deal.”

Originally from Senegal, the 6-foot-10 forward came to Denver in early 2023 to pursue educational and basketball opportunities. Today, On3, a leading source for college sports and recruiting, has Dioum ranked as the top player in Colorado from the 2026 class, No. 51 overall in the country, and a top-10 player at his position.
Dioum recently enjoyed an impressive first year with Accelerated Prep. In 16 games during the 2023-2024 Grind Session season, he averaged 13.9 points, 12.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. He also shot 44.6% from the floor.
Dioum also earned five of the Grind Session’s top end-of-season awards, including being named to the All-Grind Session, All-Defensive, All-Underclassman, and FIBA 5 teams. He was also recognized as the Underclassman of the Year.
