Denver Crime Lab retests cases involving former Colorado Bureau of Investigation DNA Analyst Missy Woods (cbsnews.com) — Denver police say 27 local sexual assault cases tied to a former state DNA analyst's misconduct have been identified, with 13 now fully retested by the Denver Crime Lab. Eleven produced DNA profiles eligible for the national database, and six yielded potential investigative leads that will be forwarded to the Denver District Attorney once reports are complete.
   

2. Denver's Legislative Workers 'Win Voluntary' Union Recognition From The City (wnylabortoday.com) — Denver City Council's legislative staff have just won voluntary union recognition from the city, clearing the way for contract talks that could reshape working conditions for aides serving all 13 council members. Workers say bargaining rights will help retain staff, protect institutional knowledge, and strengthen how effectively City Hall serves Denverites in everyday governance.
   

3. Man sentenced to life in prison for fatal shooting in Denver's Union Station (denverpost.com) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2025 shooting at Denver's Union Station bus terminal that killed 19-year-old Ileanna Hernandez and injured another man. Denver's district attorney said the verdict ensures the shooter will never be free again, aiming to bring some measure of closure to the victim's family and regular Union Station riders.
   

4. Denver Memorial Honors United Airlines 9/11 Victims (news-usa.today) — A new 9/11 memorial at United Airlines' Denver headquarters now offers a permanent place of remembrance for the 18 employees killed in the attacks. The installation gives Denver-based staff and visitors a daily, local space to reflect on how those losses and the events of 2001 continue shaping aviation and the airline's identity today.

Republican Mayor Celebrates Mexican National Holidays in Colorado (heraldousa.com) — A major Mexican Independence Day celebration in nearby Aurora highlighted the cultural and economic contributions of Mexican and other Latino residents across the Denver metro area. Aurora's mayor and Mexico's consul general emphasized support for immigrant communities, expanded consular services, and the importance of separating local policing from federal immigration enforcement, underscoring policies and events that directly affect many Denver-area families.
