Loveland Veteran Honored Nationally for #StillServing

Loveland veteran Eryn Avis is being honored for dedication to country and community in the VFW #StillServing campaign. The national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign recognizes veterans who continue to serve in their community after the military.

Avis is a disabled U.S. Marine veteran who founded Just a Girl Moving Dogs, a 100 percent volunteer group that moves rescue puppies around the lower 48. The organization has volunteers all over the country who split the trips, which are usually multi-state, into legs to deliver pups to veterans who can’t afford transport costs or active duty military who have been moved or deployed and cannot accommodate their furry friend. They also have had the honor of transporting several service dogs to military members.

Avis credits the work with saving her life. Before founding the organization she felt purposeless, as if she had no reason to live, so the work has indeed saved her life by giving her a reason to get up every day and make a difference in the world.
