Deadly fentanyl hits Denver area market as new overdose operation launches (kdvr.com) — Denver officials have launched Operation Overdose Intercept with the DEA to seize fentanyl and arrest dealers, already netting about 30,000 suspected pills and 34 arrests in one day. At the same time, Boulder County is warning residents about a particularly dangerous fentanyl supply and urging people to carry naloxone and use test strips. Leaders say the coordinated push aims to reduce overdose deaths across the metro area.

City council considers guardrails for Caring for Denver after revelations about record-keeping, spending Caring for Denver spending restrictions (cpr.org) — Denver City Council is moving to tighten oversight of three voter-approved tax funds, especially Caring for Denver, after an audit raised concerns about spending and transparency. Proposed changes would impose open-records rules, limit certain expenses like alcohol, and let the city keep up to 1% for oversight. Key votes are expected in late September and early October.

Drivers warned as metro area police crack down on this low-level offense (kdvr.com) — If you're driving in Denver this week, police are stepping up enforcement against expired registrations and temporary tags, with a $95 fine for those pulled over in the city.
