Steamboat Springs Veteran Honored Nationally for #StillServing

Steamboat Springs resident Mike Lozano is being honored for dedication to country and community in the VFW #StillServing campaign. The national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign recognizes veterans who continue to serve in their community after the military.

Lozano co-founded Warhorse Ranch, www.warhorseranch.org, following 19 years of combined active and reserve duty in the US Marine Corps., US Air Force Reserves and serving as a federal law enforcement officer. Lozano suffered PTSD, loss of hearing and an injury that led to brain surgery. While taking part in a Wounded Warrior retreat in 2011, Lozano was introduced to equine-assisted therapy and experienced firsthand how it can help manage PTSD and other combat issues. He and his wife, also a veteran who suffered combat-related injuries, decided to found War Horse Rach to offer therapy to other veterans who suffer.

Lozano and the Warhorse Ranch staff are devoted to empowering veterans, first responders and trauma survivors who live with PTSD, anxiety and depression and is dedicated to reducing the risk of suicide. They bring troubled humans together with horses, encouraging the building of life-altering relationships.
