What's Open, Closed On July 4 In Denver

Find out which businesses, institutions and services will be closed on Thursday.

DENVER, CO — While there are plenty of fun Fourth of July activities and events planned in and around Denver, some city services and institutions will be closed.

The mayor’s office, city council offices, clerk and recorder’s office, auditor’s office and most city agencies will be closed. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open.

Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected on July 4. Collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Walmart, Target, Safeway and King Soopers stores will be open on the holiday, but check individual stores for hours as they may be closing early.

City-owned golf courses will be open, weather permitting. All Denver recreation centers will be closed.

The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed on July 4. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.

Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays, and will be free on Thursday.

The city’s information line for non-emergency services, 311, will be closed July 4. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using Pocketgov or online. Updates are available continuously on the city's website. Regular programming will continue on Denver 8 TV.

All public libraries will be closed.

All properties managed by Denver Arts & Venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum, will be open for scheduled events and performances. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, including the Visitor Center, Trading Post and Ship Rock Grille, will be open to visitors during regular hours. McNichols Civic Center Building will be closed.

The five Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed.
