• Denver Water to Close Antero Reservoir to Recreation in 2026, Drought Conditions Expected to Persist (arkvalleyvoice.com) — Residents in and around Fairplay should prepare for Antero Reservoir, just down the road between Fairplay and Hartsel, to close to all recreation in 2026 as Denver Water drains it to combat severe drought. Water will be moved to Cheesman Reservoir to reduce evaporation, fish will be relocated, and experts expect persistent drought and tighter water conditions across Park County in coming months. 
• Pettersen advocates for local projects in Fairplay, Bailey (theflume.com) — Fairplay could receive $1.2 million in federal funding for a new police station with expanded operations space, officer quarters, and a community room, if Rep. Brittany Pettersen’s request is approved. She’s also backing $5 million for Platte Canyon Fire Protection District upgrades in Bailey, aimed at strengthening wildfire response and regional safety.
