📰 News we're reading
• How close is Aspen Acres fire to ADX Florence Supermax prison? (gazette.com) — Evacuation orders now extend right up to the ADX Florence prison complex south of town as the Aspen Acres fire burns roughly 9.5 miles away, though officials say the facility is sheltering in place and currently safe. Fremont County and Florence authorities have ordered evacuations for nearby roads and small towns, with more than 11,000 people displaced across four counties while firefighters slowly increase containment.

• Aspen Acres fire evacuations rescinded in part of Fremont County (gazette.com) — Some Aspen Acres fire evacuations have been lifted for Rockvale, Coal Creek and Williamsburg, a decision made jointly by Fremont County’s sheriff, Florence Fire Chief Bill Ritter and fire managers as conditions improve. Parts of Fremont and nearby counties remain evacuated or on pre-evacuation, thousands are still displaced, and utilities and road access are limited while aid groups work on housing, power restoration and financial assistance.
