1. #FortCollins Utilities, ELCO ask for voluntary watering cuts, for now — The Fort Collins Coloradoan #drought (coyotegulch.blog) — Fort Collins Utilities and ELCO are asking residents and businesses to voluntarily cut outdoor watering as a ‘water shortage watch’ begins May 1, aiming to avoid stricter mandatory restrictions. Locals are urged to limit lawn watering to two days a week and avoid watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with other area districts tied to these city decisions.

Why 3 popular Fort Collins-area trails are fully or partially closed (coloradoan.com) — Several popular trails around Fort Collins are temporarily closed just as spring recreation ramps up, including the Bay to Bay Trail at Horsetooth Reservoir and Timber Trail in the city’s Pineridge Natural Area through May 15. Work also continues on the final mile of the Poudre River Trail near Timnath and Windsor, with construction, erosion repairs, and access improvements affecting hikers and cyclists.
