Bear Cub Trashes Colorado Car [WATCH]

A trapped bear cub left devastation in its wake as it fled a parked car in the mountains of Colorado.

CONIFER, CO – Kids can be really destructive to a car's interior, but if that youngster happens to be a bear cub, the devastation can be legendary.

A cub inside a parked Subaru near Conifer Monday left complete havoc in its wake after somehow climbing into the vehicle and getting trapped inside, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office tweeted.

"Fur-tive Car Break-In Suspect Caught in the Act!" tweeted the JeffCo Sheriff including a video of a blue sedan parked on Pleasant Park Road.

As a deputy filmed on her phone, the cub burst out of the driver's-side door and fled into the woods. But then she also captured the car's completely trashed interior–front and back seats.

Sometimes they start looking for garbage earlier, if there are drought conditions, or a natural supply of acorns has been low, she said.

Bears are attracted to the smell of food in cars, whether it's a pack of gum, mints, a half-consumed soda or old fast-food wrappers, Colorado Parks and Wildlife says, so the first step is to "goldilock" your car.
